My third oekaki piece in over a year, yay X3 This was done at Eevee's oekaki, S-R Advanced, for this weeks theme, which was gryphons/eyries.
For some reason I just had a really clear image in my head of wanting to do an Egyptian gryphon painting hieroglyphics on a wall, and so I did ^^
It took somewhere in the range of four to five hours to do, and it's one of my few pieces I'm proud of, as it is my best oekaki piece to date =3 I would however like to redo it in openCanvas if I get the time, so I can make it larger, with the aim of making it into a print
I'm thinking of calling her Kenepri though, which is an Egyptian name meaning 'morning sun', which I had actually considered naming her ('Morning Sun' that is) before deciding I wanted something more Egyptiany. I'm still debating over a few others though *hugs her newest gryph* <3
Aww, sorry I have to keep her, cause I love her X3 (And cause of copyright laws if I were ever to sell prints too, I do believe... o0) If she ever has cubs though I'll let you keep one of those =3
Thankies for the comment though!
Aww don't worry - my first few oekaki's were absolutely horrendous X3 I think most peoples are until you get used to the watercolours tool and stuff. It's very hard to shade smoothly on there o0
But yeah - in their rules they say once you post five pics that don't get deleted, you're officially a member, so then you can just do loads of little scribbley ones, which gives you more chance to relax and loosen up your style a bit =3 I've done three now, so two more to go till I can post crappy pictures - Yay! X3
When I was learning it was easier as I was on Noise in the Void (before it died) and they weren't all that quality conscious, so it was a good place to learn without worrying about reaching high standards right away. As with anything tho, the more you practise, the better you get ^^ Generally if you spend over an hour on the oekaki you can get a pretty decent picture out of it

The butter legion- a socialist movement/mass colab project I started, to trigger artistic change and evolution in Da artists (mainly my watchers), to make them more active and dedicated on DA. Now 170 people strong and growing... A "dangerous cult"? a "new religion"? "artistic version of fight club" or "communist movement"? You decide!
Hello there! This news article is the result of a thumb share thread I posted few days ago on the dA forum along with pictures from my favorites. I hope you enjoy them.
